Linguistics provides scientific insights into one of the most fundamental capacities of human kind—language. This course explores the core components of linguistic theory, with an emphasis on theoretical linguistic: speech sounds, word formation, sentence structure, and meaning. It also provides an overview of interdisciplinary ideas and research on applied linguistics, psycholinguistics, historical linguistics and sociolinguistics. How language is acquired and processed? How much do you really know about what you say? How does your brain function while you talk? Which elements affect your learning of your first language or the second one?
